Hannah Madgwick

I am a self-taught artist with a love for nature and the expressive power of oil painting. My work primarily focuses on land and seascapes, often featuring unusual cloud formations that add drama and atmosphere to each scene. I’m drawn to the way light, weather, and open space interact—shaping landscapes into moments of emotion which easily drift towards the abstract.

I have spent the last few years experimenting with techniques and developing my style. I primarily work in oils because of their depth, texture, and richness of colour but I still love the variety and speed you can get from acrylics.

I can never stick to just the one art form, so during the pandemic I started lino printing. The focus and attention to tiny details is in stark contrast to painting and has fast become a favourite creative outlet. I have also recently taken up making my own clothes. So, if you notice me with wonky trousers or frayed hemlines, then I ask you to pretend you didn’t!
